Saturday And School Holiday Fun… Filled With New Friends, New Experiences, And Life-Changing Skills

Saturdays and school holidays are times of adventure and excitement for many children. But for those with a disability these can be times of disappointment and loneliness. While their siblings are playing Saturday sport or off having fun with friends, they can feel isolated at home.

Not anymore. Peer Support Junior is a fun-based Saturday and School Holiday program for children aged 5-17 with a physical and/or intellectual disability.

What Would Your Child Like To Try?

Is there something your child has always wanted to do but you’ve found it too difficult to arrange? We love to grant special requests and will do our best to arrange an unforgettable adventure for your child.

New experiences open up a whole new world of opportunity. Like when Justin learned to ride a skateboard…

At first Justin was scared. He just wanted to watch. But the carers gently encouraged him to sit on the skateboard as they rolled him along. Throughout the day you could see his confidence build. Last month we went to the snow for a holiday. You should have seen Justin zooming along on the ski-chair. He could never have done this if he hadn’t learned to ride the skateboard at Peer Support Junior. I can’t thank you enough for all you did for Justin that day.

Newfound Confidence, Value And Belonging…

New experiences can be scary. But ‘getting out of our comfort zone’ is critical for anyone to grow and learn valuable life-skills. Our caring team will support your children as they try things for the first time. We will never push. But through the celebration of involvement (no matter how small) we will give your children the chance to grow in self-confidence, independence and personal pride.

Although she was reluctant to go, when she got home Sarah didn’t stop talking about all she had done. She wanted to show us her plaster craft. And who would have known she has a talent for music. She can’t wait to start choir practice with her new friends. Thanks for everything!
