Peer SupportThis is a NDIS Approved Program
A Respite Program Created for You, by You
Peer Support provides a double benefit:
- Fun, friendship and independence for people aged 15-65 who have a disability.
- A much needed break for parents and carers.
Peer support activities are designed around fun, creating friendships and helping members develop independence by gaining life skills. Members develop life-long friendships and look forward to seeing each other at activities. Phoebe is a regular on Peer Support and says…
“I’ve been doing Peer Support activities for a year and a half. I have Williams Syndrome and have a fear of heights. I get nervous going up stairs and lifts. The staff has helped me a lot with self-confidence and independence. It’s always fun going to lots of different places with Peer Support.”Phoebe
What Would You Like To Do?
The Peer Support Program is planned around the interests and desires of our members. We hold regular planning nights, so that we can hear from our members on what they’d like to do next. Some favourites include …
The Peer Support Ball
In Safe Hands
Peer Support operates in a small group format of approximately 12 people. Trained staff and volunteer carers ensure the group has a happy and safe outing. It’s lovely to see our regular staff and volunteers become friends and role models to our Peer Support members. Specialised support staff can be sourced to cater for extra special needs.
Where and When?
Peer Support operates out of 3 locations – Campbelltown, Camden and Wollondilly. Many activities are based in the local community, however we also often venture out to events in the greater Sydney region. Peer Support runs on weeknights and Saturdays and is allocated based on the choices of each of our service users. The program is set at the beginning of each quarter, giving carers the opportunity to plan in advance for time to themselves.
We encourage you to find out more about Peer Support by getting in touch with our Care Coordinator on (02) 9603 7011 or complete our contact form for a private and confidential conversation.
