I’ve learned that I need to separate my emotions when I’m goal setting for my child from the disability. As a parent, the emotions get in the way of making sound decisions for their future.

How did you hear about the Max Family program?

I’ve recently moved to the area, and talking to other parents of the school saying I’ve receive letters in the mail about the NDIS and not really understanding at all and having a bit of confusion. And there was a lovely lady who said to me that she was doing a Max Family course, to gain more information about the NDIS, and how to set goals for her children’s future. And I’m like, “Oh, that sounds interesting.” She said I’ll send you the link and here I am.

I’ve learnt an awful lot through the program. I’ve learned that I need to separate my emotions when I’m goal setting for my child from the disability. As a parent, the emotions get in the way of making sound decisions for their future.

What is something valuable you can take away from the program?

Something valuable I can take away from the program is, I’ve learned an awful lot about myself. I’ve learned that I am a more confident person. I am able to find resources and how to put these resources into place to benefit my children and also how to prove that those resources are a valuable thing and that they need them.
